Fugro has completed phase one of cable laying operations on schedule at Eon’s 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm off the UK’s Sussex coast.
The company said subsea construction vessel Fugro Symphony carried out the work between August and October to install 60 cables – three more than originally planned.
Sister vessel Fugro Saltire completed cable burial in November using the company’s Q1400 subsea trenching system (pictured).
Both vessels will return in the spring to install the remaining 62 cables in phase two.
The work is scheduled to be complete by summer 2017.
The Rampion project is being built by Eon, the Green Investment Bank and Canadian Energy Company Enbridge.
