Fugro has won a contract for a geotechnical site investigation survey at the 1.4GW Dutch Coast South offshore wind zone in the North Sea.
The Dutch company will produce an integrated soil model of the site over two months for the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, it said.
The agency will use the results to provide future developers with site information for the tenders planned.
It said the first auction is scheduled to close in the third quarter of 2017.
The 356-square-km zone will be divided into four sites with capacity for 350MW each.
“This award recognises our capability to provide high quality independent and essential data in a relatively short time frame,” Fugro project director Sven Plasman said. “It underlines the specialised site characterisation support we provide for the offshore wind industry.”
