Germany has launched a new research project designed to offer developers practical advice on how to best decommission offshore wind farms.
The €1.1m project, coordinated by the University of Bremen, seeks to build decommissioning strategies together with participating companies in the industry.

It will study both the environmental impact and costs associated with project dismantling.
Results of the research, which is being funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour, are expected to be finalised by 2021, the university said.
A handbook would subsequently be made available to the industry.
Participating companies include Vattenfall, TenneT, EnBW, Deutsche Windtechnik Repowering and Nehlsen.
