The Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) is seeking inputs on a draft development plan and the environmental reports for the North and Baltic Seas, which serve as the basis of the future expansion of offshore wind and associated grid connections.
Authorities can comment on the documents until 1 August, while the public have until 1 September.
The area development plan should come into force at the beginning of 2023, BSH said.
It defines areas with a planned output totalling approximately 60GW by 2038.
BSH head of the department of order of the sea Nico Nolte said: “We want to advance the expansion of offshore wind energy quickly and systematically.
“In this draft of the area development plan, the BSH is therefore starting to implement the new expansion goals.
“This forward-looking action is important for the successful implementation of the energy transition. It creates trust and planning security.”
