Global Maritime has been appointed by TetraSpar Demonstrator ApS to support decommissioning of the TetraSpar Demonstrator Project offshore Karmøy, Norway.
The company said the project marks the final phase of the demonstration, which has operated since 2021 with a 3.6MW Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy turbine on a floating foundation owned by TEPCO Renewable Power, RWE, and Stiesdal Offshore.
It added that the work will enable detailed inspection of the submerged structure after nearly five years of operation, supporting verification of Stiesdal Offshore’s commercial TetraSub foundation.
Global Maritime will deliver full execution of offshore and onshore decommissioning, including project management, engineering, procurement, and operational activities.
The scope includes disconnection and recovery of inter array cables and station keeping systems, towing of the structure, and dismantling of turbine, keel, and floater components.
The onshore work will be carried out with subcontractor Semco Maritime at its Hanøytangen yard.
“This appointment reflects our strong Marine Operations capabilities and our growing involvement across offshore renewable energy projects. We look forward to working closely with Stiesdal to deliver the safe and efficient decommissioning of the floating wind demonstration unit,” said Rolf Åge Vågen, business stream director – marine operations of Global Maritime.
“The project represents an important opportunity to contribute to the full lifecycle of innovative offshore energy solutions,” he added.
