The 400MW Global Tech I offshore wind farm in the German North Sea generated 1TWh of electricity between commissioning last summer and early April.
In January alone, the 80 Adwen 5MW turbines delivered over 150GWh of electricity and the wind farm is expected to supply 1.4TWh of power a year.
Global Tech I Offshore Wind commercial managing director Hendrik Steindam said: “The strong and constant winds out there are paying off in terms of continuously high energy output.
“We now estimate that on average over the year our turbines will easily exceed 4000 hours of maximum load in operation and so give a big boost to the energy policy transformation.”
Global Tech I Offshore Wind technical managing director Detlef Schmeer said: “Due to its distance from the coastline our offshore substation platform is permanently manned by nearly 40 persons.
“This way we can guarantee smooth operations of the substation and rapid service response of Adwen technicians on the wind turbines.”
