Ocean Installer has won a cable contract from Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke for the Gode Wind 1 offshore substation in the German North Sea.
The scope of work, which has started, includes recovery of two pre-laid HVAC export power cables in the 500 mile zone of the Gode Wind 1 offshore substation, relaying the cable, installation of the centralizer cable protection system and pull-in to the transformer platform.
Ocean Installer will use the construction support vessel Normand Vision for the project.
The job is the vessel’s first project in renewable energy sector.
The project management and engineering is located in Ocean Installer’s Stavanger Office.
Ocean Installer chief executive officer Steinar Riise said: “We are very pleased that we are able to secure a very interesting project within the offshore renewables wind market and demonstrate our capabilities on such a project.”
