Windar Renovables has signed a concession agreement with the Port Authority of Szczecin for a planned XXL offshore tower factory in Poland.
The authorisation for the plant concerns a 17-hectare parcel of land in the port of Szczecin where the production and storage facilities will be located.
The factory’s planned location in the west of the country, near the Oder River, makes it “especially ideal” to serve offshore wind developers operating in the Baltic and North Seas.
In the 17 hectares of port concession, Windar Renovables’ covered facilities will encompass five hectares.
The factory will be built within two years and its investment is in excess of €100m.
The XXL offshore wind towers are designed for turbines of up to 20MW.
The factory is expected to create 450 direct jobs.
Executive president of Windar Renovables Orlando Alonso said: “From the Szczecin production centre, Windar Renovables will reinforce Poland’s contribution to the transition process energy that leads the European Union.”
“Windar Renovables, which always collaborates with local suppliers, hopes to consolidate Szczecin as a great focus of wealth and development.”
