Global Wind Service (GWS) will shortly kick off pre-assembly turbine works for 257MW Arcadis Ost at Ronne Havn on the Danish Island Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.
Vestas awarded GWS with pre-assembly labour support for Arcadis Ost. This follows projects like Seagreen, Moray East, and Triton Knoll.
The wind farm located north-east of the German Island Rügen will consist of 27 Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines.
The turbines will be installed using a new floating installation method, an industry first, due to challenging soil conditions and up to 45-metre water depths.
Once commissioned the turbines are expected to generate green energy to power around 290,000 households in Germany.
GWS offshore & service sales director Thomas Bak Mathiasen said: “We have worked with Vestas Offshore, previously through MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, on several pre-assembly projects around Europe, but also in Denmark where we have had activities in Esbjerg for several years.
“We are delighted to be back in Denmark for this pioneering project continuing our good collaboration with Vestas.”
