US Wind is eyeing GE 6MW Haliade 150 turbines for the 250MW Maryland offshore wind project although turbine supply has yet to be finalized, project development director Paul Rich told reNEWS.
The project could employ 41 or 42 machines about 14 miles off the coast of Ocean City, according to generation interconnection request documents by grid operator PJM.
“I used GE 6MW turbines in our PJM filings,” said Rich. “But the technology can change if commercial arrangements dictate otherwise.”
PJM has assigned a breaker-and-a-half at the Indian River 230kV substation for the offshore project. The substation is part of Delmarva Power and Light’s transmission system.
The planned in-service date is 1 March 2020.
Maryland regulators are reviewing US Wind’s application for offshore renewable energy credits. The application period has been extended for a second time and now closes 21 October 2016.
