Hellenic Cables has been awarded a contract to supply array cables to SSE’s 1075MW Seagreen offshore wind farm off Scotland.
The Greek outfit was handed the order by Subsea 7’s renewables business arm Seaway 7, which is engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contractor for the foundations and array cables at Seagreen.
Hellenic Cables will design, manufacture, test and supply around 320km of 66kV XLPE-insulated array cables and associated accessories for the project.
“We are proud to support Seaway 7 in a project that will provide low carbon energy for around 1 million homes and enable the clean energy transition in the UK,” said Hellenic Cables chief executive Alexios Alexiou.
Hellenic’s role in the project was reported in the latest edition of the subscriber-only reNEWS.
The company will produce the array at its submarine cables plant in the Greek city of Corinth and delivery is planned for early 2022.
