The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency has notified the Danish and Norwegian authorities of plans by Hexicon for a 230-turbine floating offshore wind farm in the southern part of the Skagerrak.
The agency said that Hexicon is now conducting consultations on the project to be built between the mainland at Lysekil in Sweden and Skagen in Denmark.
The wind farm is aiming to produce approximately 12 terrawatt-hours a year of electricity.
Turbines would be up to 350 metres in height across an area of 499 square km.
Notification to Denmark and Norway is in accordance with the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context – Espoo Convention.
Potential cross-border effects for Norway may be related to seabirds, commercial fishing and shipping. An impact assessment will now be prepared for the facility, the agency said.
