French transport engineering group Octra has been selected to provide construction barges for Ideol’s 2MW Floatgen demonstration floating wind turbine.
Octra said the equipment will be used during the full float out of the project’s caisson, which weighs 5000 tonnes.
In June, Ideol said the floater will be the first turbine installed off the French coast when it is commissioned next year.
The hardware is being built by Bouygues Travaux Publics in Saint-Nazaire Port and will be installed at the Centrale Nantes test site off the coast from Le Croisic.
