French floating wind developer Ideol has carried out an audit of California’s harbours and ports to determine the suitability for handling shallow-draft concrete floating solutions.
A total of five sites were deemed suitable with two not requiring any upgrades, Ideol said.

A further four sites were identified as suitable for wind turbine assembly and eight harbours are capable of storing mooring lines as well as hosting operation and maintenance bases.
Ideol chief executive Paul de la Gueriviere said: “We’re more than satisfied with the results of our review because it confirms our ability to facilitate projects’ acceptability while strongly limiting the carbon footprint of our floating structures.”
