Chinese vessel operator Shanghe Offshore has launched an investigation after one of its offshore wind jack-ups was flooded off Jiangsu province.
The Jiangsu Zhenjiang New Energy-owned company said it raised the alarm on 4 July at 9pm when its Zhenjiang vessel began taking on water.
The ship is understood to be jacked up in position but its deck has been submerged and its equipment cannot be used. There were no casualties.
Local maritime officials are also probing the accident.
Shanghe Offshore said the cause is not yet known and enquiries are ongoing.
The vessel, which is understood to have been delivered last year, is still within its warranty period, the company added.
“Since the specific causes and related liability issues leading to the accident are still under investigation, the company can not accurately predict the direct and indirect economic losses caused by this accident.”
