Jan De Nul has finished the 2025 transport and installation campaign for three HVAC grid connection cables at TenneT’s DolWin kappa platform.
The company said the 37km of 155kV cable will deliver almost 660MW of power from the Nordseecluster 1 and 2 offshore wind farms.
It added that the work was carried out with partner Hellenic Cables, covering design, production, transport, installation and protection.
Cable-laying vessel Isaac Newton installed the three links between DolWin kappa and the two wind farm sites, placing concrete mattresses at subsea crossings.
According to Jan De Nul, the multi-purpose vessel Adhémar de Saint-Venant buried the cables using its UTV1200 trencher.
Rock installation vessel Simon Stevin placed about 25,000 tonnes of rock berms over the past two weeks to protect the cables, concluding the 2025 campaign.
Connection and testing works are planned for 2026 following the installation of the Nordseecluster offshore substations.
The company stated that the DolWin6 project will bring power from Nordseecluster 1 and 2 and Gode Wind 3 to the onshore grid, with a total capacity of 900MW.
Jan De Nul added that further export cable projects are planned as part of its long-term services to TenneT.
