The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has issued two offshore wind tenders.
Japan has designated one site Sea of Japan off the coast of Aomori Prefecture (south side) and an area off the coast of Yuza in Yamagata Prefecture as areas for development.
The Ministry has now published public occupancy guidelines for the sites, and begin accepting applications from offshore wind power generation operators.
It announced on 3 October 3 2023 that the areas had been designated as marine renewable energy power generation facility development promotion areas.
Since then, the Ministry has been consulted on guidelines for the public recruitment of companies to develop offshore wind projects.
The Ministry said: “After receiving public comments, we have now established guidelines for public occupancy, which we will now publicise and begin a public recruitment process to select parties to conduct offshore wind power generation projects in these areas.”
A briefing session regarding the public recruitment will be held on 2 February 2, 2024, for those who want more information regarding the guidelines for submitting materials.
The deadline for accepting plans will be 19 July 2024.
