JERA has transferred part of its ownership in the Ishikari Bay New Port offshore wind farm in Hokkaido to an investment company established by Hokkaido Electric Power and Tohoku Electric Power.
Following completion of the transfer on 30 September, the 112MW project is now jointly operated by JERA, Green Power Investment, Hokkaido Electric and Tohoku Electric.
The wind farm, located at Ishikari Bay New Port, features 14 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines and a 180MWh battery system. It began commercial operations on 1 January 2024, supplying power to Hokkaido Electric Power Network under a 20-year agreement.
JERA said the project has been stably operated together with Green Power Investment to date, with close collaboration with the local communities of Ishikari City and Otaru City.
The company added that the participation of Hokkaido Electric and Tohoku Electric would strengthen the project through their community relationships and long experience in stable power operations.
JERA and its partners said they remain committed to supporting regional development while contributing to Japan’s decarbonisation goals.
