JERA has submitted initial environmental impact documents for a 340MW offshore wind project it is planning off Japan.
The developer submitted its Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document for the Oga City, Katagami City and Akita City Offshore Wind Power Generation Project 1 to the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
The project will be located off the Akita Prefecture.
JERA said that the favourable wind conditions and shallow seabed off Oga, Katagami and Akita city make the area suitable for the development of bottom-fixed offshore wind power generation.
The document summarises the results of deliberations concerning environmental conservation issues to be considered at the project planning stage and is available on JERA’s website for review and for submissions of opinions “from an environmental conservation standpoint”, JERA stated.
JERA said it will continue to move the offshore wind project forward under the guidance of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and other related authorities, giving due consideration to the opinions of other stakeholders.
