Jan De Nul’s new heavy lift vessel, Les Alizés, has left the CMHI Haimen Shipyard in China and is heading for Europe’s offshore wind industry.
The vessel was delivered by the shipyard on 16 January and has departed this morning.
Les Alizés’ first mission is off Germany, for the transportation and installation of 107 monopile foundations and one offshore substation topside at Ørsted’s Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm.
Les Alizés is specifically designed for loading, transporting, lifting and installing offshore wind turbine foundations.
The main features are a crane of 5000 tonnes, a deck loading capacity of 61,000 tonnes and a deck space of 9300 square metres, enabling the vessel to transport several heavier future foundations in one trip to the offshore installation site.
Les Alizés is a crane vessel for floating installations so is not dependent on water depths and seabed conditions.
