ABB and SNC-Lavalin joint venture Linxon has confirmed it has won a turnkey deal to deliver the onshore substation for SSE Renewables and Total’s 1075MW Seagreen wind farm off Scotland.
The company will design, supply and build the transmission infrastructure at Tealing as well as the HVAC electrical system at both onshore and offshore substations under a deal with lead contractor Petrofac.
Scottish construction outfit Noel Regan & Sons has been subcontracted to carry out onshore civil works. Construction is to start in the coming weeks.
Linxon’s role in the project was first reported by subscriber-only reNEWS last November.
At peak, Linxon said its project team will have 10 UK-based project staff who will manage the works with a UK based M&E contractor providing 40 installation workers and NRS employing 50 locals.
Linxon chief executive Frederic Trefois said: “We are honoured to be collaborating with Petrofac for this large-scale renewable energy project.
“Our collaboration, bringing together collective expertise and experience from similar onshore and offshore renewables projects is impressive and creates value for our customers from the early stage of the project development until the end of the commissioning of the project.
“Linxon is fully committed to contribute with its world class execution skills to deliver a safe, quality focused and on-time project.”
Seagreen, a joint venture between SSE Renewables and Total, recently reached final investment decision.
The site is situated over 27km off the Angus coast and will consist of 114 10MW MHI Vestas turbines.
