Renewables engineering outfit LOC Group has won a contract to support development of the Zhanjiang Wailuo 2 and 10 offshore wind projects off the coast of China, with a total capacity of 407MW.
The marine warranty services contract covers the transportation and installation operations in relation to the projects, which are each 203.5MW in capacity.
LOC’s scope of work includes providing document review and verification, inspection and suitability surveys of the proposed fleet to support the development of the offshore wind farm and monitoring of critical operations.
Guangdong Energy Group Company owns the Zhanjiang Wailuo projects.
The contract will be serviced through LOC’s office in China, with support from other group offices around the world.
LOC is celebrating 15 years of having a presence in China, with offices in Shanghai and Tianjin.
Zhanjiang Wailuo offshore windfarm 2, east of Zhanjiang City, comprises 37 wind turbines which will be installed in water depths of up to 19 metres.
It will begin commercial operations at the end of June 2021.
Zhanjiang Wailuo offshore wind farm 10, off Xinliao island, will also host 37 wind turbines. It is expected to commence operations in June 2020.
LOC China managing director Wenchao Shi said: “LOC has real strength and experience in the offshore wind market, as well as a strong understanding of the Chinese market, as it celebrates its 15th anniversary in China.
“This is a major contract win, whichwe have commenced work on and which will be run out of the Company’s office in China but with support from other teams in the group”.
LOC China has provided marine warranty survey services for nine of the region’s offshore wind farms with a combined capacity of 2454MW.
