The French region of Pays de la Loire is to start looking into additional offshore wind energy zones off its coast in western France.
Environmental and technical studies will be carried out to identify the zones with the least impact and talks will kick off with stakeholders including fishermen.

Pays de la Loire had earlier this year called out a moratorium on the subject, while developers were renegotiating tariffs for the country’s Round 1 and 2 projects.
The prices were then brought down to an average of €150 a megawatt-hour from up to €230/MWh.
The 496MW offshore wind farm Noirmoutier, developed by Engie-led consortium LEM, and the 480MW project Saint-Nazaire are located off Pays de la Loire’s coast.
