Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets has agreed to acquire Ocean Breeze Energy, which owns the 400MW Bard Offshore 1 wind farm in the German North Sea, from Unicredit.
The acquisition will be made via the Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5.
Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets EMEA head Leigh Harrison said: “Offshore wind is playing a significant role in Germany’s ambitious Energiewende.
“We look forward to supporting the country’s transition to increasingly clean energy resources through our investment in Bard Offshore 1 – leveraging our extensive green energy experience to ensure it remains a source of sustainable and clean electricity for German households and industry.”
Bard Offshore 1 features 80 Bard-built 5MW turbines and has been operational since 2013.
No details were released about the price of the transaction.
