French President Emmanuel Macron has pointed to a targeted date of the end of 2024 to hold a tender for additional offshore wind power.
In a speech, he detailed an ecological plan for the country to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% in 2030.
According to the strategy, the country will hold a political meeting in October and November on the deployment of offshore wind power with an eye toward launching public debate on offshore wind power.
This will help meet calls for tenders for offshore wind power at the end of the year 2024.
The tenders represent part of a larger strategy to reduce French dependence fossil fuels. According to Macron, the new strategy will help reduce fossil energy from supplying 60% of the country’s electricity to 40% by 2030.
