Maersk Offshore Wind is celebrating the successful float-out of its newly-built turbine installation vessel.
The Maersk Wind Installation Vessel (WIV) was launched to sea at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore.
Maersk Offshore Wind said it was a “truly special moment” to see the vessel take to the water.
The Maersk WIV (pictured) has been designed as a next-generation turbine installation concept to help accelerate the build-out of offshore wind.
A spokesperson for Maersk Offshore Wind said: “The day began with a prayer ceremony, wishing fair winds and following seas to the vessel and her crew.
“Then the dock was flooded, and the mighty Maersk WIV was towed out to the quayside, ready for the crane installation.
“This also marks a phenomenal 15 million work hours with zero lost time injuries (LTIs) at Seatrium’s flagship Tuas Boulevard Yard.
“Congratulations to the on-site teams at both Seatrium and Maersk Offshore Wind for reaching this tremendous milestone, thank you for always keeping safety at the fore.”
