Maryland state regulators plan to hold public hearings in March for two offshore wind renewable energy credit (OREC) applications.
US Wind has applied for the 250MW Maryland scheme, while Deepwater Wind has proposed the 120MW Skipjack project, located in waters off neighboring Delaware.
The Public Service Commission has scheduled hearings 25 March in Berlin, Maryland and 30 March in Annapolis. Comments may be submitted through to 7 April.
Deepwater, meanwhile, has asked the commission to compel US Wind to show Deepwater the confidential version of its application.
A mutual exchange of such information will ensure a fair, comparative process, said Deepwater.
US Wind has refused the request, saying the disclosure of confidential information to a direct competitor “could result in irreparable harm to US Wind’s competitive position, or harm to the competitive position of US Wind’s vendors, contractors, or other related parties.”
The commission is expected to rule on the motion in the coming weeks.
A final decision on OREC funding is expected in May.
