The Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities has granted an extension to Avangrid to make a decision on its power purchase contract.
The move comes after the company requested a one-month delay in the approval of the PPA on its 1.2GW Commonwealth Wind project.
The move was aimed at giving the company time to concerns around rising commodity prices, interest rates, and supply chain constraints, and potentially renegotiate the contracts.
Commonwealth was soon joined by Mayflower Wind, which issued a filing supporting its proposal.
The utilities involved in the contracts, Eversource, National Grid and Until, previously stated that they saw no reason to renegotiate the contracts, making the suspension unnecessary.
With the petition being dismissed by the DPU, it said that the developers could either accept the conditions in the current PPAs or move to dismiss the approval process, giving them until 9th of November to respond.
Avangrid asked for an extension of the response period until 14 November, claiming that they needed the extra time to properly consider the issue.
