MHI Vestas has confirmed that it will supply V164-9.5MW turbines to Parkwind’s 219MW Northwester 2 offshore wind farm off the coast of Belgium.
Installation of the 23 machines is scheduled to start in late 2019, the manufacturer said.
The firm order, which follows the project’s financial close on 5 October, includes a 15-year service agreement.
Parkwind estimates that the project will provide more than 1000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and 100 long-term operations and maintenance positions.
Mott MacDonald was lenders’ technical advisor on the scheme and will also monitor construction and operations in an ongoing role.
Northwester 2 is expected to be fully operational in the first half of 2020.
Parkwind’s partners on the project include Colruyt, InControl and TTR.
