MHI Vestas has signed a conditional agreement for the delivery of turbines to SSE Renewables’ 1140MW Seagreen wind farm off Scotland.
The announcement by the turbine manufacturer’s shareholder Vestas firms up a preferred supplier deal confirmed last year.
A firm order will be announced once confirmed, the Danish company said.
“The project’s materialisation will be subject to a final investment decision,” added Vestas.
SSE is expected to reach financial close on the project shortly, it is understood.
The model and power rating of the selected hardware was not disclosed.
The wind farm is to feature around 114 turbines on suction bucket jacket foundations.
SSE holds a Contract for Difference for 454MW of capacity at the project and is expected to build the rest backed by off-take agreements and at merchant risk.
The wind farm is expected to hit full power by end-2022.
