MHI Vestas has been selected as the preferred turbine supplier for the 300MW Zhong Neng offshore wind project off the coast of Taiwan.
The turbine company has also reaffirmed its commitment to establishing a local supply chain in Taiwan on the back of the deal.
Local partnerships will be announced in the coming weeks, the Japanese-Danish outfit said.
Zhong Neng is being developed by a joint venture project between China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).
MHI Vestas Taiwan business director Maida Zahirovic said: “MHI Vestas has been an active and dedicated partner in the development of the local supply chain for more than two years.
“In close collaboration with our customers and the government, we are putting the finishing touches on the sector’s most ambitious localisation plan.
“We applaud the steps our local partners are taking to prepare for offshore wind and to become globally competitive.
In November the DEME and CSBC marine joint venture CDWE signed two contracts for the transport and installation of foundations and turbines for Zhong Neng.
The JV will aim to deliver the project in 2024.
