Ming Yang Smart Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Buhawind Energy Northern Luzon Corp to jointly study the feasibility of a 2GW offshore wind project planned off Ilocos Norte in Northern Luzon.
The partnership will evaluate the suitability of Ming Yang’s offshore turbine technologies for local marine and weather conditions, alongside energy yield and cost assessments.
It will also explore feasibility solutions adapted to regional infrastructure and supply-chain capabilities.
Buhawind Energy Northern Luzon is the Department of Energy’s service contractor for the project and a subsidiary of PetroGreen Energy, part of the Yuchengco Group of Companies, with Japan’s Kyuden International Corp as a minority partner.
The two parties will work together on floating wind solutions, engineering, and full life-cycle operations and maintenance services to support Northern Luzon’s offshore wind ambitions.
