The Ailes Marines consortium behind the 496MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm off France has confirmed that a joint venture of Spanish companies Navantia and Windar Renovables will fabricate 62 jacket foundations for the project.
Iberdrola-led Ailes Marines said the three-legged jackets will weigh up to 1175 tonnes and reach heights of 74 metres.
News that the Navantia and Windar JV was in line for the job was first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS last month.
Assembly work will take place both in Spain and in France on an 11-hectare site on the Brest polder in Brittany, Ailes Marines said.
Ailes Marines president and Iberdrola Offshore Wind Power World director Jonathan Cole said: “The selection of Navantia for the construction of the jacket foundations on the Brest polder solidifies Ailes Marines’ announced industrial commitments, to building an offshore wind farm in the Saint-Brieuc Bay.
“We are proud that Navantia will be the first occupant of the port of Brest polder and that it will bring a minimum of 250 jobs to Brittany.”
The Ailes Marines consortium also comprises RES and la Caisse des Depots et Consignations.
