Navantia Seanergies has completed the load-out of the HVDC substation jacket for the 1200MW Dogger Bank C offshore wind platform.
The jacket and platform will be installed at the UK offshore wind project, which is being developed by SSE Renewables, Equinor and Vargronn.
Navantia Seanergies was awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work as a subcontractor to Aibel.
The load-out of the substation jacket (pictured) was completed at Navantia’s Puerto Real shipyard in Spain.
Navantia said the jacket, measuring 37 metres by 38 metres, with a height of 46 metres and weight of 2900 tonnes, presented a significant engineering challenge.
The company said the “complex operation” required collaboration among technicians and engineers from various departments.
Dogger Bank C, located off the east coast of Yorkshire, is the third phase of the 3.6GW Dogger Bank project, which is set to become the largest offshore wind farm in the world.
