Clare Lavelle has been appointed as the project director of the 1GW Buchan Offshore Wind floating project, replacing Alasdair MacLeod when he steps down in August.
The floater scheme is sited 75km north-east of Fraserburgh.
Lavelle (pictured) joins Buchan Offshore Wind from Arup, where she was director and energy leader.
The developer said she brings extensive experience of major project development, having led a diverse portfolio of offshore and onshore energy and wind projects.
In her time with Arup Lavelle worked with government and regulators in shaping policy and regulatory frameworks, and with the private sector leading project execution.
“We are delighted that Clare will be taking over this key role, and it is clear she brings a tremendous amount of capability and experience at this important time for the project,” said Buchan Offshore Wind director Felipe Cornago.
“We would like to thank Alasdair for his expert guidance of the project since we were awarded our option agreement for the site, and, indeed, for his massively important contribution to our successful ScotWind bid back in 2021.
“Clare inherits a great team, which continues to grow as we progress the many workstreams required to submit our application for consent in 2025 and to developing our detailed project design.”
