Nexans has loaded out the first cable section at Mukran Port for Eon’s 385MW Arkona wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The cable was delivered by train to the Arkona base port in Sassnitz on Rügen island, Mukran Port said.
Another four sections of the 76km array cable will be transported to the port by the end of the year.
The sections are between 9.4km and 23km long, depending on the cross-section that varies between 300 and 800 square millimeters.
The sections weigh between 510 and 580 tonnes, the port said.
Nexans will deliver 48km of 300 square millimeter and 28km of 800 square millimeter wires, as well as cable joints for the project.
Earlier this year, Mukran Port extended the rail track at the facility by 350 metres to bring goods closer to its quay.
