Dong Energy has contracted Nexans to supply and terminate part of the subsea inner-array cables for the 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm, which will be located off the Yorkshire coast.
Nexans will supply 139km of 34kV cables to link 58 turbines and connect them to the offshore substation.
The supply and termination of the cables will start in spring 2018 and should be completed about a year later.
The Nexans team will be accommodated on board a supply vessel near the project so that they do not have to travel a large distance every day to carry out the work.
The job will be the first time the company’s workers have been accommodated in this way on an offshore wind project.
JDR secured a contract in November to supply inner-array cables for the rest of the project.
