Around 1GW of French offshore wind capacity has gone unallocated after no bids were received for the Oleron (AO7) zone.
Paris confirmed the “failure” of the tender as it “was not the subject of any offer at the end of the application period”.

The government did not give any more details, including whether the capacity will be put up for grabs in a new auction.
Nine consortia and developers were pre-selected to take part in the round.
A partnership between RWE and Valorem were among the developers that had publicly stated interest.
A tie up between Corio and Qair was also in the race.
The Oleron zone is located 40km off the island of the same name on the west coast of France. It had been due online in 2032-33.
