DNV GL has awarded the full project certificate for Innogy’s 295MW Nordsee Ost project in the German North Sea.
The certification, carried out according to the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency’s standard, covers all stages of the project development from design planning to commissioning, DNV GL said.
Project certification of wind farms is mandatory in the country and Nordsee Ost is one of the first offshore wind farms to gain the award in Germany.
The 48-turbine wind farm located north of Heligoland island opened in 2015.
“At the time when we started the development of the Nordsee Ost, DNV GL was the only partner capable of meeting German regulatory requirements for offshore project certification,”Innogy director of wind offshore Paul Cowling said.
“Their flexibility and cross-industry experience ensured that we had a partner on our side that provided the required technical know-how and experience from one hand, to ensure our first offshore wind project in the German North Sea was successfully implemented.”
