North Carolina has issued a request for proposals seeking a consultancy to carry out an assessment of supply chain and infrastructure requirements for offshore wind in the US state.
The aim is to identify and better understand the nature of the existing businesses and organisations that can support the growing offshore wind industry.
Assessments will also identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities that North Carolina can address and pursue to maximise the potential of offshore wind off its coast and other areas of the Atlantic coast.
The objective is to determine how North Carolina can successfully position itself to compete in offshore wind and pinpoint advantages to attract and develop key industry segments such as blades, towers, nacelles, substation manufacturing and related equipment manufacturing, as well as project management and development, and construction staging.
The RFP, which was issued by the state’s Department of Commerce, is open until 15 June.
Only electronic responses to the RFP will be accepted, the Department of Commerce said.
