North Star has opened new headquarters at Prime Four Business Park in Aberdeen to support its expansion in the offshore wind sector.
The move from Queen’s Road to Kingswells provides 50% more floor space and includes upgraded technology, collaborative workspaces, and a 24/7 vessel operations control centre.
Chief executive Gitte Gard Talmo said: “This new space provides the next-generation infrastructure we need to continue scaling our business while staying true to our roots. Aberdeen remains the perfect location for our HQ.”
North Star’s operations centre will oversee its fleet of 42 emergency response and rescue vessels deployed across approximately 50 North Sea installations.
Founded 138 years ago, the company has transitioned from fisheries to become a key offshore support provider. Its 48-strong fleet includes six newbuild service operations vessels (SOVs) for the wind sector.
Renewables now represent 60% of North Star’s business. Since entering the offshore wind market in 2022, the company has committed over £512m to hybrid SOVs and plans to add 40 more by 2040.
The new HQ follows the appointment of Maria Olsson as operations coordinator in Hamburg and investments in the firm’s Lowestoft office and ERP systems.
Backed by private equity firm Partners Group, North Star employs over 1,400 people and manages more than 900 port calls and 7000 offshore transfers annually.
