Dutch utility Eneco has applied for a €450m loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to help build the up to 370MW Norther offshore wind farm, which is to be located 22km off the coast of Belgium.
The EIB said the application is currently “under appraisal”, which will include determining whether Eneco is subject to EU rules on public procurement.
The project is being developed by a 50:50 joint venture between Eneco and Belgian energy company Elicio.
MHI Vestas is the preferred supplier of V164 8MW turbines for the project, which scheduled to be commissioned in 2019.
