Norwegian company GC Rieber Shipping has agreed a ship management deal with Nexans for the cable laying vessels Nexans Skagerrak and Nexans Aurora once the latter is delivered in 2021.
The agreement is expected to be executed in the third quarter of this year with hand over of Nexans Skagerrak (pictured) in September.
The addition of the two vessels grows GC Rieber Shipping’s fleet of specialised vessels, managed on behalf of third-party owners, to eight from six, in addition to the company’s own fleet.
GC Rieber Shipping and Nexans have also agreed to an extension to the ongoing charter of CSV Polar King by up to two months.
The charter with Nexans, which started in January 2017, was originally set to end in August but will now continue until mid-October.
GC Rieber Shipping chief commercial officer Christoffer Knudsen said: “We are proud that through the Polar King charter and our close operational relationship, we have been selected as ship management provider for Nexans Norway’s highly advanced cable laying vessels.
“We look forward in developing our partnership and servicing Nexans in the coming years.”
