Offshore wind contractor Havfram has revealed plans to build a new jack-up vessel to support offshore wind projects off the east coast of the US.
The vessel will have class leading hook height and the capability to install the next generation of 20MW-plus wind turbines, while having the potential to be powered by zero-emission fuel, said the company.
The company, previously known as Ocean Installer, plans to place an order to build the vessel by the year-end.
Havfram is also looking at opportunities for similar vessels for the European market.
It is gearing up its activity in the floating wind sector, drawing on its proven subsea and fixed wind expertise to bring its “next generation thinking” to advancing the growth of the floating wind sector.
Havfam has also been working on a tidal turbine pilot project off the coast of France and on a number of projects in Norway’s METCentre, a test centre for new marine renewable energy technologies including floating wind.
