NR Marine Services has commissioned Walker Marine Design (WMD) to develop a new cyclone class crew transfer vessel (CTV), extending its UK-built offshore fleet with a focus on comfort and capacity.
The 29-metre Cyclone Class follows the success of NR Marine’s Storm and Typhoon Class vessels, also designed by WMD and constructed by Diverse Marine on the Isle of Wight.
The new class will feature enhanced onboard accommodation and welfare spaces, including six cabins and room for up to 24 passengers.
With a deck cargo capacity of 30 tonnes and propulsion provided by four Volvo IPS1050 engines, the vessel will reach speeds up to 28 knots.
“Working with WMD on the new Cyclone range was a no-brainer,” said NR Marine director Owen Nutt.
“Their previous designs have exceeded expectations, and we’re excited to welcome this new vessel into our fleet.”
WMD project manager Nikki Walker said the commission marked a milestone in a longstanding partnership.
“Being trusted to help them develop a new class of vessel is a huge compliment,” she said.
“We look forward to seeing the Cyclone Class take shape and enter operation.”
WMD will be exhibiting at Seawork from 10–12 June 2025 at Stand G19 in Southampton, where NR Marine will showcase its latest vessel, NR HUNTER, at Berth VB22.
