French wave physical model testing facility Océanide has become a member of offshore research institute France Energies Marines.
Océanide conducts physical modelling of complex offshore phenomena as well as prototyping and large-scale test campaigns.
The facility has 30 years of experience and has modelled renewable energy an oil and gas and projects.
France Energies Marines said the new member would add value with respect to the development of high-power and floating wind farms.
Ludovic Noblet, development and valorisation director of France Energies Marines, said: “Given the technological challenges associated with floating offshore wind turbines and the problems of long-term viability in relation to high-power wind farms, as well as the impact of climate change and associated extreme phenomena, the fact that Océanide is joining France Energies Marines as a member is excellent news for the industry.”
