Ofgem has launched tenders to own and operate the transmission assets for the 336MW Galloper and 660MW Walney 3 offshore wind farms.
Potential offshore transmission owners (OFTOs) have eight weeks to submit bids for the links to Galloper off the east coast of England and Walney 3 in the Irish Sea.
Ofgem said it will publish bidder shortlists for each project in the summer.
The tenders represent the second stage of the fifth tender round, which has an estimated value of £2bn and will connect 2.3GW of capacity.
The first stage of round five saw Ofgem shortlist bidders competing to own and operate transmission links to the 402MW Dudgeon, 400MW Rampion and 573MW Race Bank offshore wind farms off the coasts of Norfolk and Sussex.
