Ofgem has chosen Transmission Capital Partners as the preferred bidder to own and operate the HV grid link for the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland.
The UK regulator said that certain matters are to be resolved before the preferred bidder becomes the successful OFTO bidder.
These include establishing the necessary arrangements to provide offshore transmission services for the project, including having all relevant contractual, funding, regulatory and operational arrangements ready for the transfer of the assets and the grant of the offshore transmission licence.
A bilateral agreement will need to be put in place with the holder of a co-ordination licence to provide transmission services for the project.
The other issues relate to acceding to the system operator transmission owner code, and the resolution of any other matters that Ofgem deems are necessary in relation to the project.
Transmission Capital Partners is a consortium of Transmission Capital Partners and International Public Partnerships.
Beatrice comprises 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines and has been fully operational since June.
The wind farm is owned by a consortium of SSE Renewables, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Red Rock Power.
