The UK energy regulator Ofgem has accepted that a reduction in transmission from the Gwynt y Mor offshore wind farm off north Wales last year was caused by an “exceptional event”.
Ofgem said Gwynt y Mor OFTO, which holds the transmission licence for the 576MW offshore wind farm, had provided details showing that the reduction in service from 15 October to 31 December from one of the export cables resulted from such an event.
It added that Gwynt y Mor OFTO had also taken steps consistent with “good industry practice” to manage the event.
The regulator said that the licensee’s reported system incentive performance would be adjusted to offset the duration of the outage.
Ofgem added that Gwynt y Mor OFTO must also provide it with the final root cause analysis report related to service reduction, and any other information requested as soon as available.
