OHT to open installation HQ in Denmark

Eleanore RobinsonBy Eleanore RobinsonJanuary 13, 20213 Mins Read
OHT's heavy transportation vessel MV Hawk has discharged her final jacket foundation for the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm after carrying her second load of ten jackets from Lamprell's fabrication site in Hamriyah

Specialist transport and installation contractor OHT is to set up a new office in Danish offshore wind hub, Vejle.

The site will act as the base for the company’s operational and commercial activity for wind turbine (WTG) installation.

OHT Renewables DK A/S will be headed by Tony Millward, who joined the company on 1 January, bringing with him more than 12 years’ experience from A2Sea and DEME Offshore where he was a business unit manager for WTG installation.

He is currently general manager, WTG and administrative director of OHT Renewables DK A/S, fully integrating with the company’s existing engineering, project and commercial teams in Norway and the UK.

Millward is joined by Klaus Nissen, previously of Vattenfall, who will be the company’s head of WTG project execution and Camilla Verner Klejs, previously of Orsted, as WTG engineering manager.

Torben Mikkelsen will project manage the new build project for OHT’s jack-up installation vessels, joining from Maersk Supply services.

In addition, Rasmus Rindum Jensen will join OHT in March as chief legal officer (CLO), bringing experience in renewables from A2Sea, Bladt Industries and K2 Management where he is presently director, head of contract & commercial advisory.

The company’s new offices will be ready from 1 May.

With capacity for 20 employees in the first instance, the company is preparing for further growth in the near term and will be tapping into the wealth of experience and expertise that the location has to offer.

OHT chief executive Torgeir Ramstad said: “Denmark is one of the major hubs for offshore wind and a logical location for us to base this key business unit as part of our expansion into WTG installation.

“Vejle is in the center of this hub, both for serving clients in Denmark and Northern Germany, but also for attracting an experienced and high caliber team.”

Tony Millward added: “With the core Danish management team now in place, we will continue to build upon this over the coming year, both commercially and on a technical and project management front, so that we can proactively support the needs and requirements of our clients.

“We have attracted some of the best and most experienced people in the sector and I am looking forward to building the WTG installation unit with them to firmly establish OHT as a leader in transport and installation for both turbines and foundations in offshore wind.”

OHT is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, with offices in the UK, Dubai, Houston, Shanghai and Singapore.
